Lily Allen And Friends

Lily Allen And Friends

Brief

Lily Allen And Friends was a Friday night BBC chat show hosted by indie pop pin up Lily Allen. The shows novel format had a social networking theme based around Lily’s own My Space powered rise to fame.

The website had to house standard information on the guests, host, and transmission dates, daily updated custom content, user generated content for the show itself, and a Facebook application.

The custom content included a daily blog from the production crew, and a video blog from Lily herself. Visitors could determine the content of the show by voting for bands, submit their own social networking pages for on-air humiliation, and apply for a place in the audience.

The website was rolled out in three phases (pre TX, TX, and post TX), with different content and functionality released at each stage.

Solution

With an extremely aggressive turnaround (project initiated three weeks prior to launch date), Playgroup had to manage a smart roll out plan to hit a succession of critical delivery dates. There was no room for contingency and Playgroup had to crack the initial site design first time round.

Armed with a couple of set designs and some press shots of Lily Playgroup created a pop art influenced virtual set containing the key site features. This parallax scrolling environment acted as a flash carousel and sat above a crisp HTML framework housing the core site content.

Playgroups development team worked around the clock to deliver daily updating site content as well as wiring up new functionality on the fly. The user generated content and Lily’s infamous video blogs successfully powered key portions of the live show.
