Help! I’m lost and not cool

After having a gander at the Creative Review blog I came across the lovely work of Kate Hyde a print and digital designer with a lovely illustrative style. Her “A-Z of London Street Food” caught my eye, which hit on some of the cooler food spots in London destined to “pop up” before your vary eye’s and leave you playing a constant game of hide & seek whilst tweeting your instagram ware’s, I thought it worth looking at the rest of her work.

Irina Werning photographer

Steve recently pointed me in the direction of photographer Irina Werning where she takes old photographs and recreates them in situ with the same people often a number of decades later. It gives a really interesting insight that will raise a smile – check it out!

Great Design+Great Food=Happy Times

There is nothing better than going into a restaurant and not only finding that it serves up great food but also takes pride in it’s brand. It’s defiantly an aspect I look at when making a booking, it doesn’t just need to be cool but it does need to put across the restaurants philosophy. Whether that be the simple yet striking red and black palette used by Smiths of Smithfield to compliment it’s industrious interior setting. The type as image creation for the Hawksmoor at Home cookbook which also has some amazing photography along with tasty recipes.

Typographically perfect holiday destination

When planning a typographers Stag Do there can only be one destination, the island of San Serriffe in the Indian Ocean. A fantastically exciting place, which will soon be on the lips of the rich and type-aware, everywhere.

“Tourists fortunate enough to be permitted to visit the Flong settlements of San Serriffe during the summer solstice will be rewarded by the colourful spectacle of the Gallee sect stamping and shrieking in unison in the Dance of the Pied Slugs.”

Brand your life

I do love how brands seem to sneak up on you these days and then punch you in the face. It’s a strange expression not meant to cause any offense but I think it’s apt at describing the word of mouth, life style brands that have taken over the popular retail culture scene.
