Eyebrow dance anyone?

30 Jan

Blog Image

My last blog in delight of Cadbury's advertising campaign was met with plenty of comments in disagreement.  The ads 'lacked imagination' and led to  'disappointment' - apparently.

So what do we think about the new glass and a half production staring the eyebrow dancing kids?

Its definitely got people talking once more, and is by far the most entertaining ad I have seen on UK TV recently.  Its also being promoted by consumers themselves (every brands dream?).  My attention has been drawn to the ad several times through social media - mainly facebook status updates.

By creating content that entertains rather than a traditional one one brand push Cadbury have got it right again. And social media is key to increasing their success.

I don't like it. The girl looks too sinister and evil. Nice touch though with the purple hair clip and pinafore!

Actually, thinking about it she looks like one of the twins from 'The Shining'.

I think they've found the best kids for that ad. They are everything but average.
Do you remember the girl from Little miss sunshine? Was she charming? Hmm, I wouldn't say that. However, she was totally original. I think little miss eyebrow dancer is brilliant too!

I don't particularly have any strong feelings towards it, other than it's on TV far too much! It's certainly done the job it set out to do though, everyone's talking about it once more.

I think I prefer the T Mobile ad in Liverpool Street station - another which my attention has been drawn to through social media. I imagine it must have been pretty surreal if you were there when it was filmed!

And it's not on TV quit so much. Just.

I'd really struggle to do that - I've only got one big eyebrow!

The ad did get me thinking about the direct association between brand and colour though. Not so long ago, the purple here would have been inextricably linked with Silk Cut cigarettes. Now Cadbury's have rightfully appropriated it as the brand signifier for Dairy Milk. Especially important with such an abstract theme.

Its very playful, original and good fun. I like the kind of sinister retro look, its diffrent! I have only seen the Ad several times on TV but I can imagine it would become annoying after a while due to the soundtrack.

Yeah I like the T mobile Liverpool St Ad too, but I'm sure that's partly due to the fact that I can associate with it, as I pass through there everyday.

Talking of people dancing this guys has done something similar and has received massive press coverage and nearly a million hits on this youtube video alone!

It has to be said that I hadn't even realised the dancing eyebrows were a TV ad - I had an email from Cadbury with a link to the film (I am unashamedly joined to their mailing list)

They certainly are good are targeting through a variety of media

I spotted this advert over the weekend - I liked it - then I saw straight after it the Sunday night Project with Alan Carr and Justin Lee Collins. If imitation is the sincerest form of of flattery, then Cadbury should be pleased!

I was chatting to my mate the weekend about the T-Mobile ad - he was in liverpool street when it was going on and did not have the foggiest until I informed him! Before that he just thought it was another flash-mob turnout...
