From the middle of last week I’ve started to get involved in Playgroup as “innovation researcher” (such a nice title!). Originally I’ve been studying ‘Innovation Management’, and its always bothering me how to explain what it actually is! What we’ve learnt is basically how to deal with innovation through design and design thinking. The following video might be helpful to see what we have done in our course:

I’m personally interested in how the creative approach works practically, and then I bumped into the name of Playgroup. Fortunately, they offered me a placement for the practical learning.
My role at Playgroup is to help articulate the power of play and support the development of “Playology”. As innovations are considered to often happen from quirky ideas, in theory play will be one of the significant tools used to diversify ideas. The thing is that the reality is not as simple as some of theories I have leant in college.
It will be a good opportunity to learn how play/creativity works in practical context (and also have fun and get excited!), and hopefully I can contribute to the development of “Playology” as a practically applicable creative methodology.
